Ten found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
